About Me...
My name is Shantel White and, at the age of seventeen, my biggest inspiration is to be the best oldest sister I can possibly be for my three sisters. After growing up in Louisville, Kentucky all my life, I feel like I’m ready to venture of into the world and find the path paved out for me. I intend to go to college in order to study English, but I don’t know what career I will make of it.
I currently attend Central High School, under the studies of the veterinary science magnet. My favorite color is yellow; my favorite food is Cheesy Bread Florentine from Buca, and my favorite place in the entire world is the universe and fairytale I venture into with every book I read. I have a vivid imagination and I use writing to communicate my being and ideas to the world. So, with that ability, I hope to reach out to a wide span of individuals, to expose them to something new, to become a life changing experts, even in the smallest way.
“It means that I did it. I am overcoming something that is difficult; I am proving that I can do what I did not think I could. I have the determination to look this challenge in the face say ‘I will win.’ Because I will, I have to.
And it may be hard, and I may cry, question the point, and suffer, but I will be okay...”

Bernie Sanders
Bernie Sanders is an American politician and the Junior United States Senator from Vermont. Currently, Sanders is running in the 2016 Presidential Campaign for the Democratic Party and was born on September 8,1941 to Eli Sanders and Dorothy Glassberg. He was born and raised in New York city and graduated from the University of Chicago in 1964. While he was in college though, Sanders joined the Young People's Socialist League, which is the equivalent to the Youth Affiliate of the Socialist Party of America. The political activities this group participated in activities that concentrated on increasing the voter turnout of young democratic socialists and affecting the issues impacting the democratic group.
With four children, Bernie is currently married to Jane O'Meara Sanders. Jane and Bernie met when he was elected mayor of Burlington, Vermont (April 6, 1981). There have been reports that say the two grow up a mere 15 blocks away from each other in Brooklyn, New York – though Bernie was raised in a Jewish neighborhood, while Jane was from a Catholic background. Differences aside, though, they married in 1988.
And so, as of now, Sanders has declares his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States. He has an agenda for America, The Twelve Steps Forward, which include: Rebuilding Our Crumbling Infrastructure, Reversing Climate Change, Creating Worker Co-ops, Growing the Trade Union Movement, Raising the Minimum Wage, Pay Equity for Women Workers, Trade Policies that Benefit American Workers, Making College Affordable for All, Taking on Wall Street, Health Care as a Right for All, Protecting the Most Vulnerable Americans, and Real Tax Reform. With these ideas, Sander's hopes to become our next ,president and lead us into a new, better nation.

Sanders and his Issues
1) Income and Wealth Inequality
"Today, we live in the richest country in the history of the world, but that reality means little because much of that wealth is controlled by a tiny handful of individuals.
The issue of wealth and income inequality is the great moral issue of our time, it is the great economic issue of our time, and it is the great political issue of our time."
2) Racial Justice
"We must pursue policies that transform this country into a nation that affirms the value of its people of color. That starts with addressing the four central types of violence waged against black and brown Americans: physical, political, legal and economic.
3) Fighting or LGBT Equality
"Sen. Sanders is currently a cosponsor of the Equality Act, which would expand the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and other anti-discrimination laws to include protections for sexual orientation and gender identity. He has consistently supported legislation that would guarantee LGBT Americans would be treated as equal citizens, and has a lifetime perfect score from the Human Rights Campaign.

Twitter
"We must learn the lesson of Iraq. American troops should not be engaged in perpetual warfare in the Middle East." - In this tweet, Sanders uses the word "perpetual," which means never ending or never changing. The use of this word to describe the warfare demonstrates how apparent the struggle is with this issue. The warfare is never ending because American troops have been sent where they aren't needed, and they're causing more trouble than good. If the people inhabiting America were to try to understand the people in Iraq and what would best resolve the issue, instead of sending force to handle it, then things may work out. With a solution in mind, American troops can leave Iraq and we can peacefully compromise until an answer is sought. This idea would appeal to both pathos and logos.
"While fossil fuel companies are raking in record profits, climate change ravages our planet and our people. #PeopleBeforeProfits" - The word "ravages" within this statement is meant to display an extreme idea. When saying that the climate change "ravages" us and our planet, it means it causes cause severe and extensive damage. When it is worded in that way, it makes it seem like something important and like something people should focus on. To prevent us and our environment from receiving such extreme outcomes. When people realize how bad it is or can be, they'll feel the weight o obligation to do their part in order to fix whatever is wrong. This use of diction would mostly appeal to pathos.
"#PostalBanking is a real alternative to big banks and predatory lenders. Join me to make it a reality. Sign now: http://www.campaignforpostalbanking.org/petition-to-pmg/?source=bern …" - With this tweet, Sanders is advocating for Postal banking and also opposing big banks. When he describes the big banks and their leaders as "predatory," he is putting them in a bad and distrustful light. I someone is "predatory," their only plan is to feed off on something. And, in this situation, these banks and leaders are feeding off of Americans and their money. Wit this statement in consideration, the people are meant to reconsider their trust in big banks because they may be getting used. With Sanders' written option, it should cause people to lean more towards postal banking. This idea would appeal to pathos, and logos as well.
